Funding

IDMEC receives funding from several entities, public and private. This is acknowledged in the webpage of each such project. Below is listed the funding from different organizations.

FCT funding

IDMEC receives FCT funding from several projects. This is acknowledged in the webpage of each such project.

IDMEC also receives funding from FCT through LAETA, under project UID/50022/2025. Among the goals of this project are the increase of research and innovation projects, the reinforcement of LAETA, the increase of highly qualified human resources, and the creation of scientific jobs. FCT funding granted to LAETA has resulted in increased scientific publications, the organisation of scientific events, international collaborations with other R&D entities, the participation in R&D projects, and the creation of job positions in science.

Funding is acknowledged in publications as follows: “The authors acknowledge Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) for its financial support via LAETA (project https://doi.org/10.54499/UID/50022/2025).”

FCT funding acknowledgement up to October, 2025 can be found in this page. Papers published in 2025 may still acknowledge FCT funding in this way.

Affiliation

The affiliation of an IDMEC member is acknowledged in publications as follows:

  • IDMEC, Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, Lisboa, Portugal (if the IDMEC member is hired by IDMEC or by IST)
  • IDMEC, School, University / Polytechnic, City, Portugal (if the IDMEC member is not hired by another institution)

The Department, the Research Centre, and LAETA may be optionally mentioned as well. The same applies to the address (which in the case of IST is Av. Rovisco Pais 1, 1049-001 Lisboa).

Open Access to scientific publications

IDMEC members follow the FCT guidelines (Portuguese; English; video) about publishing in Open Access. Information about conditions available to all IDMEC members is found in the BIST webpage. Available repositories, which may be used to comply, include Scholar and the ULisboa Repository (part of the RCAAP project).

PRR Funding

#Construir o Futuro

IDMEC receives funding from European Union – NextGenerationEU and Plano de Recuperaçao e Resiliência – PRR, through LAETA, under projects UID/PRR/50022/2025 and UID/PRR2/50022/2025. Among the goals of this project are the upgrading and restructuring of scientific research units, including their digital transformation. Its purpose is to fund the acquisition of major scientific equipment, scientific instrument collections, scientific archives and datasets, other knowledge-based resources, computing and software systems, communication networks that promote digital open access, and/or other instrumental infrastructures that foster excellence in research and innovation activities. FCT funding granted to LAETA has resulted in increased scientific equipment, scientific instrument collections, international collaborations with other R&D entities, and the participation in R&D projects.
